February 15, 2014 – Good News Reflections – Update on Susan

Dear Praying Friends,

Susan’s last doctor visit at the Mayo Clinic was on yesterday (Friday), so . . . we loaded up the truck and we drove to Tennessee – – Athens that is. = ) We arrived home early this morning (at 4:00 AM). We were scheduled to be at Community Baptist Church, in Whitwell, TN this weekend (one of our supporting Churches), but are having to reschedule that meeting. Due to a Heart Catheterization, Susan is limited to what she can do with her right hand for a few days. The good news is that her voice is slowly returning to normal – so Dusty should be back to his normal self well before our summer meetings.

St. Augustine Road Baptist Church, in Jacksonville, FL has been such a blessing to us! The last two times we have been at the Mayo Clinic, they have allowed us to hook-up our 5th Wheel on their Church property. God used them to minister to us, and we are so thankful for their friendship and for their hospitality! Last Sunday, we had the privilege of ministering at St. Augustine Road Baptist Church – it was awesome to see 13 year old Jordan come to ask Jesus to save him.

Update on Susan

As many of you know, Susan had her thyroid removed at the Mayo Clinic on December 6th. When her thyroid was later examined, they found thyroid cancer. Her follow-up blood-work (on February 3rd) showed that the Tumor Marker was at 0 – we praise God that the surgeon did such a great job! As of right now, the doctor does not see a need for the Radioactive Iodine Therapy. This is an answer to prayer, because this treatment increases the risk for Leukemia. A lot of Susan’s symptoms fit with Fibromyalgia, but some of them seemed to point to a possible problem with her heart. Because of this concern, a Stress Test was ordered on this past Friday, (the Stress Test showed an irregularity, but was inconclusive). On Wednesday, Susan had a Heart Catheterization. The procedure went well, and the doctor said that her heart is very healthy and her arteries look great. We praise God for this good report!

God’s Faithful Provision

It is amazing how God has provided for us during this time. Two weeks ago, we were in a situation where we needed the funds to pay some bills, but we did not know how God was going to meet that need (we didn’t tell anyone, except our Heavenly Father). A week earlier, God burdened the heart of one of our supporting Churches to send us a gift. Their gift met the immediate need. God’s timing is always perfect! Just one week later, God provided again through a Church’s very generous love offering. We serve an Awesome God and we praise and honor Him for so Faithfully taking care of us!

Thanks for Praying!

It has been such a blessing to know that many of you have been faithfully praying for us – especially for Susan.

What an encouragement you have been!

God has given us:

Safety and protection on the roads

Many opportunities to be a witness for Him

Ministry opportunities

Wisdom and discernment through the Mayo Clinic doctors

Answers to some very serious concerns (cancer, heart, fibromyalgia, etc.)

His financial provision during our most difficult time of the year

We serve an Awesome God indeed!!!

Please continue to pray for:

Susan’s continued healing and strength

Susan’s voice to be completely restored

Meeting prep for this year

God’s continued financial provision

Reaching Families for Him,

Tim, Susan, and Rachel Vermaas
