August 25, 2014 – Good News Reflections – Update on Susan

Dear Praying Friends,

Calvary Bible Baptist Church

It was great to minister at Calvary Bible Baptist Church, in Waterloo, IA this past week (one of our supporting Churches).  We enjoyed getting to see everyone and to spend time with family.  Tim’s Dad will turn 89 years old on September 12th, so we celebrated his birthday while we were there. It’s hard to believe that Mom has been in Heaven almost a year and a half now.

Lighthouse Baptist Church

We had a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship at Lighthouse Baptist Church, in Shepherdsville, KY.  It was great to see Pastor Jordan and his family again, as well as meeting a lot of new friends.  There is a sweet spirit among the people and God is really blessing their ministry.

Blow-out on the trailer

On our way to Shepherdsville, KY, we had a blow-out on one of the trailer tires.  When we stopped, we were shocked to see a panel missing, along with the fender.  The blow-out was on the right side, but we found the fender in the median – how it got there, we have no idea.  We also found the panel, but it was all twisted.  We hope to have them repaired so we can still use them.

We are currently on our way home and are excited about getting a few days of down time.  Susan is still working with her Mom’s things (with her Mom passing away this past month). We hope to have all of Mom’s affairs settled by the end of the year.

Update on Susan

A lot of people have asked how Susan is doing.  She has to be tested every 6 months, as well as an ultrasound  of her thyroid area.  Her last testing in July showed that her tumor marker is at zero.  We praise God that she is still cancer-free.  She still struggles with fibromyalgia, neuropathy, and exhaustion – so pray that this time at home will help her to get some extra rest.

We cherish your continued prayers for us!

Reaching Families for Him,

Tim, Susan, and Rachel Vermaas
