January 17, 2015 – Good News Reflections

Dear Praying Friends,

It’s hard to believe that 2014 has come and gone, and we are well into 2015! In Ephesians 5:16, the Apostle Paul challenges us to be, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” We cannot change the past, but we can learn from it, and we can let it challenge us to do even more for Christ in the future. I believe the Lord’s return is just around the corner – so, let’s “See then that ye walk circumspectly…” Let’s use the time our Savior has given us wisely – we’ll be glad for all eternity that we did!

The Lord was so good to us in 2014, and He gave us many opportunities to be a witness for Him. This year we held 108 meetings in 23 different churches, and had the privilege of seeing 59 children, teens, and adults give their lives to Christ!

There are so many stories we could share with you, but here is just one of the great things HE hath done this year.

After the Thursday evening service, Summer and McKenna came to talk with Tim about a story he shared, concerning a man who could no longer spend time with his wife and daughter, because of the things he did under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Summer asked what his name was – and said, “I think that story is about my Daddy.” It’s sad to think about what so many young people are going through today! Summer and McKenna then told us that they had both asked Jesus to save them (on different nights) while at their seat during the meeting this week. The pastor’s wife shared with us that they have been praying for Summer for a year and a half. What a joy to see the fruit from the faithful ministry of this dear Church! You never know how God is working in hearts.

Update on Susan

These last several years have been very challenging for Susan – especially in the area of her health. In 2013 we spent 8 weeks at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL (we were there 3 times in 12 months). During that time she was diagnosed with a severe case of Fibromyalgia, as well as thyroid cancer, and on Dec. 6, 2013 they removed her thyroid. Susan’s recovery from the surgery took longer than expected, but praise the Lord she completely regained the use of her voice. Since then, all her tests for cancer have come back negative…(which is very positive)!

Susan also lost her mom on July 1, 2014, and as her executor, we have had to spend a lot of time working on settling her affairs, as well as distributing her parent’s things to the family (in fact, we spent much of Oct. & Nov. in Clarksville, TN working on sorting and packing).

God’s Faithful Provision

It is amazing how God has provided for us this year. Between the extra medical expenses, time off the road for Susan’s recovery, and taking care of family obligations, this year has been very unusual. On so many occasions, God provided for our needs in ways we could never have imagined. God’s timing is always perfect – we serve an Awesome God, and we praise and honor Him for His Faithfulness to us!

We are so grateful for the 22 years God has allowed us to minister with Good News for Little People! It has been an amazing journey of faith, and we are excited to see what the next 20 years will hold. We firmly believe that the Lord’s return is just around the corner, and we want to be busy about the Lord’s work until He comes.

Thank you again for your prayers and support for us and this ministry.

Reaching Families fir Him,

Tim, Susan, and Rachel Vermaas
