March 9, 2013 – Good News Reflections

Dear Praying Friends,

Children’s Mission’s Conferences

We just finished two awesome weeks of meetings – the first week was at Starkey Road Baptist Church, in Seminole, FL, and the second week was at New Hope Baptist Church, in Parrish, FL. At both of these Churches we had the privilege of leading the “Children’s Mission’s Conference” during their adult Conference. It was exciting to see the eagerness of the young people to complete their “Passports.”  Both Conferences were well attended and we praise God for the 11 young people who came to accept Christ.  While at Starkey, several teenagers shared with us that they were saved under our ministry in years past.  How exciting to hear their testimonies and to see them continuing to grow in Christ!  Starkey has faithfully supported our ministry for many years now and has been such an encouragement.

While at New Hope, we had the privilege of celebrating Rachel’s 11th birthday with a “Surprise Tea Party” on Sunday afternoon (March 3rd).  We planned the party with a Missionary family who happened to be at both Starkey and New Hope for their Mission’s Conferences. Rachel had made friends with their four daughters and really enjoyed getting to spend time with them! After the Mission’s Buffet on Sunday evening, we shared our ministry with the entire Church family. It was a sweet time of fellowship.

The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL

Following the evening service, we drove through the night to Jacksonville, FL, and arrived at the Mayo Clinic around 4:30 a.m. for Susan’s first appointment at 6:45 a.m.  She was seen by several Specialists, who ran numerous tests.  We have been very pleased with our experience at Mayo, and will send out an update later in the month.  Please pray that God will give wisdom to the Doctors and that Susan will get to feeling better soon.

Tim’s Mom – Home with the Lord

On Wednesday (while at the Mayo Clinic), we received word that Tim’s Mom was in the Hospital and was not doing well (she had a temperature of 104, with an infection in her blood).  On Thursday morning, when we heard that Mom’s kidneys were shutting down, we rescheduled our upcoming appointments and tests at Mayo, hooked-up our trailer, and headed for Iowa.  While in route, on March 7th, Mom went home to be with the Lord at 5:20 p.m. EST.  Mom will definitely be missed, she was a very special lady.  But we know where she is – in the presence of her Loving Lord. This coming November, Mom and Dad would have been married for 70 years.  Please pray for the family, but especially for Dad.  We are still making our way to Iowa and plan to be there by this evening some time (Saturday).

By the time we get back to the Mayo Clinic (for our next appointment on March 18th), we will have traveled over 3,500 miles (in a 2 week period).  We cherish your continued prayers for our safety and for God’s Grace throughout this time. We praise Him for His Faithfulness to us! Pray also for Tim as he preaches at Calvary Bible Baptist Church on Sunday morning, as well as being one of the speakers at his Mom’s funeral.
