November 9, 2013 – Good News Reflections

Dear Praying Friends,

This last week we had the privilege of ministering at Harvest Baptist Church, in Jacksonville, FL (we did Teen Sunday School and Children’s Church, and Tim preached on Wednesday night).  It was awesome to see two young people accept Christ as their personal Savior Sunday morning!  Twelve year old Jason (a first time visitor) knew exactly what he needed – he asked Jesus to forgive him of his sin and save him.  Praise God for how He continues to work in hearts!

We were also blessed to spend some time with Savanna Reynolds (a young lady from our home Church in TN). Savannah is in the Navy, and is stationed here in Jacksonville, FL (her ship is docked at the Naval Station Mayport). She is active at Harvest Baptist Church and has many opportunities for ministry.

This past week was very busy with many appointments each day at the Mayo Clinic (plus, Rachel and Tim got in a full week of school).

Between:

·CT scans,

·X-Rays,

·EKG’s,

·a 24-hour Pulmonary Oximetry,

·a 24-hour blood pressure monitor,

·Ultrasounds of the heart and thyroid,

·Echocardiogram,

·Audiogram,

·Oral Vestibular Evaluation,

·Physical and Occupational Therapy (for pain management),

·Blood Work (some had to be sent to their Rochester, MN clinic)

– We have been quite busy! –

Susan has been to 20 different appointments over the past five days; and there are 12 different specialists working together to help find the cause of the many symptoms, and to work on a manageable plan to relieve the pain.

Please be in prayer for her this coming Monday (at 8:30) – the doctors will be doing another biopsy of her thyroid.  The ultrasound in March detected 3 nodules/tumors.  However, the ultrasound this week detected a 4th nodule/tumor (it was also felt through a manual exam).  The procedure was quite painful last time we were here, so we would appreciate your prayers.  Depending on the results of these biopsies, Susan may be having surgery to remove her thyroid.

On Wednesday (Nov. 13), we plan to travel to Valdosta, GA, where we will be at Lighthouse Baptist Church.  On Thursday and Friday we will be ministering at the Deep South JR. Convention, as well as helping with some of the judging.  Saturday and Sunday we will be ministering with the young people during the S. M. Davis Conference (both Conferences will have many Churches and young people from all over Georgia).  Please pray that God will work in hearts and that many will make decisions for Christ (both for Salvation and for service).

After these meetings, we plan to head back to the Mayo Clinic, where Susan will undergo more testing and see more specialists (we may be in the area for most of November).  Please pray for God’s wisdom and discernment, and for His financial provision.

May God continue to bless you, our faithful Prayer Partners and friends!

Reaching Families for Him,

Tim, Susan, and Rachel Vermaas
