April 17, 2013 – Good News Reflections

Dear Praying Friends,

Metropolitan Baptist Church

We had a wonderful week of ministry at Metropolitan Baptist Church, in Wheeling, WV (March 31st through April 5th).  On Sunday morning we ministered with their Children’s Church, and then on Sunday evening with everyone.  Monday through Wednesday we conducted Teacher Training and had a great turn-out each evening.  We also attended their RU (Reformer’s Unanimous) meeting on Friday night.  God is definitely using Metropolitan Baptist Church to reach out to hurting people in the Wheeling, WV area.

East Sunsbury Baptist Church

On April 7th we were at East Sunsbury Baptist Church, in Beallsville, OH. It was great to see everyone again, but sad that they have just lost their Pastor, Jeff Cox, to cancer. His testimony of faithfulness and consistency has so challenged our hearts! Please continue to pray for his wife, Laurie, and their five children (two are still at home).

Justin Spurgeon (their youth pastor) is doing a great job as interim Pastor.  We have known Brother Justin since he was a pre-teen serving in the Bus Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, in Trenton, GA.  It’s awesome that he still has that same passion to serve Christ!

Update on Susan

We want to thank you for your many prayers for us while we were at the Mayo Clinic, in Jacksonville, FL.  They diagnosed Susan with severe Fibromyalgia and confirmed Hashimoto’s (which is what caused her Hypothyroidism). There really isn’t a cure for either one; we just have to work on managing the pain.

Susan had weaned-off of the expensive pain medication (that her Rheumatologist had prescribed), and by the time we were finished at Mayo, her pain was unbearable (the medication was working more than we realized). The Mayo Clinic prescribed the same pain med she had been taking, along with another medication to see if together they will be more effective. Please continue to pray for Susan as we work on pain management.  We appreciate all of those who have been praying for us – you have been such an encouragement!

We have been home for a little over a week for Rachel’s SAT testing, and have also been able to get some projects and much needed office work done.  It has been refreshing to be at our home Church, Fairview Baptist Church, for a couple of services.

Upcoming Meetings

Early Saturday morning, we are heading to Knobs Baptist Church, in Tower Hill, IL for meetings on Sunday, April 21st.  From there we plan to be at Bible Baptist Church, in Mattoon, IL for services on Wednesday, April 24th.  On April 26th-27th we are scheduled to do Teacher Training at Southside Baptist Church, in Kirksville, MO, and a Youth Rally after the Saturday sessions. Then we will begin a Family Crusade on Sunday, at Southside Baptist (April 28th through May 2nd).

Please pray for safety and protection in our travels and for God to work in hearts.

Reaching Families for Him,

Tim, Susan, and Rachel Vermaas
